Everything required to open the record, protect it, and deliver it. Arranged through one coordinator and billed on one invoice.

Core service

Court reporting

Our reporters take the verbatim record in depositions, arbitrations, examinations under oath, administrative hearings, board proceedings, and trials. Every reporter we assign holds a current California Certified Shorthand Reporter certificate, or the equivalent licence in the jurisdiction where testimony is taken.

We name your reporter when we confirm the setting. If a conflict arises, you hear about it from us before you hear about it from anyone else, and we propose a replacement in the same message.

  • Depositions in every California county
  • Arbitrations, mediations, and private judging
  • Examinations under oath and recorded statements
  • Administrative, licensing, and agency hearings
  • Trial and motion practice, including daily copy
  • Statements on the record for out of state matters
On appearance fees. We quote the reporter appearance fee, the per page rate, expedite tiers, and any video or interpreting charges before the proceeding. If the scope changes on the day, for example a witness runs long or counsel orders a rough, we tell you what it costs at the time rather than at invoice.
Notice window
Settings confirmed the same business day. Proceedings inside forty eight hours should come by telephone so we can staff them immediately.
Cancellations
Our cancellation policy is stated in the confirmation for every setting, so it is never a surprise.
Reporter continuity
For multi session or multi witness matters we hold the same reporter wherever scheduling allows, which keeps spellings and terminology consistent across volumes.
A remote deposition should feel exactly like an in person one, minus the travel.
  • Technical check call offered to every witness before the date
  • Dedicated attendant present for the full session
  • Digital exhibit distribution with private review for the witness
  • Breakout rooms for attorney and client consultation
  • Recording available where all parties stipulate on the record
  • Dial in access for participants without reliable video

Remote and hybrid

Proceedings that hold together over a network

Remote testimony fails for predictable reasons. A witness cannot find the link. An exhibit will not open. Someone joins from a moving car. We treat each of those as our problem rather than yours.

Before the date, we send connection details to every participant and offer a short technical check to the witness. On the day, an attendant opens the room early, confirms audio for each appearance, manages the exhibit queue, and stays on for the full session so counsel never has to troubleshoot.

Hybrid settings, where some participants attend in person and others appear by video, are handled the same way, with equipment placed so that remote counsel can hear every speaker in the room.

Realtime

Live text, rough drafts, and expedited delivery

When the examination has to move faster than a transcript can be produced, realtime keeps counsel in front of the testimony.

Realtime streaming

Unedited text delivered live to counsel during the proceeding, on a laptop or tablet, with the ability to mark and annotate passages as the witness testifies. Available in person and in remote settings.

Rough draft

An uncertified working copy delivered at the close of the day or the following morning, suitable for preparation and motion work. Rough drafts are provided on the understanding that they are not to be cited as the certified record.

Daily and expedited copy

Certified transcript on next day, forty eight hour, or three day turnaround for trial and dispositive motion deadlines. Expedite tiers are quoted before the proceeding.

Availability to all parties. Realtime feeds, rough drafts, and expedited transcripts are offered to every party on the same terms and at the same time. We do not provide a transcript or an ancillary service to one party in advance of the others.

Legal videography

Video that survives an objection

Our videographers record testimony to the standards expected for use at trial, including proper opening and closing statements on the record, an on screen time reference, clean framing on the witness, and separate audio capture for each speaking position where the room allows.

Video is delivered in standard formats with a certificate, and can be synchronised to the certified transcript for clip preparation. Where counsel intends to play designations, we can supply the synchronised file in the format your presentation software expects.

  • Deposition and trial preservation video
  • Transcript synchronisation for designation and clip work
  • Picture in picture with exhibits where requested
  • Secure delivery by encrypted link, physical media on request
A note on stipulations. The scope of recording, who appears on camera, and how the video may be used are matters for counsel and the parties. Our videographer will state the stipulations on the record as counsel dictates them and will not depart from what the parties agree.

Interpreting

Testimony in any language

We arrange certified and registered interpreters for depositions and hearings across the language pairings California litigation requires, including Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Vietnamese, Armenian, Tagalog, Russian, Farsi, and American Sign Language.

Interpreters are booked for the mode the proceeding calls for, consecutive for question and answer testimony, simultaneous where a party needs to follow proceedings they are not testifying in. For long or technical examinations we recommend a team of two, and we will tell you when we think that is necessary rather than waiting to be asked.

Advance materials
Providing exhibits, technical terms, and proper names in advance materially improves accuracy. We pass anything you send directly to the interpreter.
Check interpreters
Where a party retains a check interpreter, we coordinate seating, audio, and the handling of any objection to interpretation on the record.
Remote interpreting
Supported in hosted remote proceedings, with a separate audio channel where simultaneous mode is used.

The deliverable

Transcripts and delivery

The transcript is the product. Everything else we do exists to make it accurate, timely, and usable.

Format
Certified transcripts are prepared to the minimum transcript format standards that apply to California proceedings, including line numbering, page layout, and certification. Condensed versions and full size copies are available in the same order.
Word index
Every certified transcript includes a full alphabetical word index with page and line references, supplied at no additional charge.
Electronic delivery
Transcripts, exhibits, and video are delivered by encrypted download link rather than as email attachments. Links are issued to named recipients and expire on a set schedule.
Formats supported
PDF, plain text, and the standard interchange formats used by transcript management and case analysis software, so your team can load testimony into the tools it already uses.
Reading and signature
Where the witness reserves the right to read and sign, we handle notification, distribution, and the return of any errata according to the applicable procedure and the parties' stipulations.
Archiving
We retain the certified transcript and exhibits so that later copy orders, including orders from parties who did not attend, can be filled without reconstructing the file.

Exhibits

Exhibit management

Exhibits cause more post deposition friction than any other part of the record. Pages get separated, marking runs out of sequence across sessions, and nobody is certain three months later which version of a document the witness actually saw.

We pre mark exhibits from the materials you send, maintain a continuous numbering scheme across sessions and witnesses where counsel wants one, and return a single indexed package with the transcript. In remote proceedings, exhibits are introduced from a managed queue so the witness sees only the document that is currently on the record.

  • Pre marking from materials supplied in advance
  • Continuous numbering across multi session matters
  • Exhibit index cross referenced to transcript page and line
  • Native file handling for spreadsheets and media
  • Managed introduction queue in remote proceedings
  • Return of physical exhibits by tracked delivery
